We are a locally owned community pharmacy with a focus on patient care, diabetes, compounding & home health care. We are looking for a full-time Pharmacist to provide personable service to our patients throughout an extended maternity leave until July 2019. The successful candidate will use all of the tools available to them under the OCP expanded scope to evaluate the therapeutic needs of each patient & will also make recommendations to local physicians, including the Family Health Team next to the pharmacy.
Pharmacist responsibilities and duties
- Provide excellent customer service to all customers and healthcare providers to maintain & build strong relationships.
- Collaborate with local physicians to recommend solutions to drug related problems.
- Evaluate patient profiles to determine suitability of prescribed medications & resolve any drug related problems you encounter.
- Use your professional judgment to determine whether pharmacist intervention is required (i.e. adaptation, recommendation of alternate therapy to prescriber, prescribing additional therapy, OTC required or needs discontinuation or further discussion with patient, etc.).
- Schedule & complete appointment-based Diabetes consultations & MedsChecks.
- Counsel patients on the proper use of their prescription and non-prescription therapies.
- Ensure procedures for regular prescriptions, blister packs & compounds are followed to minimize the risk of medication incidents.
- Ensure compounds are prepared & meet the requirements as indicated in the Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding of Non-Sterile Preparations.
- Double check formula calculations & ingredients before compounds are prepared.
- Maintain pharmacy stock through inventory control systems.
Pharmacist Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy
- Licensed in Part of A of the Register by Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Excellent customer service abilities
- Efficient time management abilities; effective organization and planning skills
- Very strong verbal & written communication skills
- Knowledge of Kroll Pharmacy System an asset
- Show an interest in compounding. Additional compound training would be an asset
- Injection certified & maintain First Aid qualifications
- Maintain adequate professional liability insurance
- Certified Diabetes Educator designation would be an asset
