Gummies for a 4 Year Old
We made gummies for a little guy who has had some negative experiences with liquid medications although he will take chewable forms. The doctor prescribed a drug which is only available in adult tablets. We normally would make this into a suspension, flavoured to the child’s liking. This child avoids any liquid medications so we suggested a gelatin gummy. He takes one every day at the same time as his chewable vitamin & it is a much easier process for him & his mom.
Adding flavours or changing dosage forms are two very common uses of compounding to make medication administration easier & more pleasant for everyone involved, especially our youngest patients. Ask us how we can help take the fight out of medication time.
